The Way Things Are Publications Signed Author and Photographer Jessica Feis to Use the Power of Words and Photos to Deliver an Intimate Exploration of Issues Critical to Colorado
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (DECEMBER 1, 2009) – The Way Things Are Publications, an independent press that focuses on raising awareness on social issues, announced today that Colorado Springs author and local photographer Jessica Feis will be publishing a Colorado editorial photography book that explores social, environmental, and economic issues confronting the state. The book will feature a pictorial journey of Colorado’s urban and natural landscapes with an ongoing narrative that raises awareness of the major issues impacting the state from the point of view of a local life-long resident.
The book, currently untitled, is in development and will be available in bookstores and specialty retailers mid to late 2010. The contents will include photos from several parts of Colorado including Manitou Springs, Colorado Springs, Denver, and many state and national parks.
“Our contract with Ms. Feis is an important step in our mission to elevate social consciousness on important and current issues,” said Jennifer Havenner, Director of Publishing for The Way Things Are Publications, “and this beautiful series of Colorado photographs tells a compelling story about how the state has transformed and the many challenges it faces. Ms. Feis is passionate about these issues and her eye has captured images that are uniquely Coloradan. Feis: Colorado will deliver a captivating odyssey that will reveal a vision that only a Colorado native could have.”
The photo collection is the start of a larger project that uses editorial photography to narrate socially relevant local themes in order to create a positive grassroots social impact in communities.
