Los Angeles Area Independent Publisher To Initiate Communications Campaign Challenging Wasteful Industry Practices
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 26, 2009) – The Way Things Are Publications, an independent press that focuses on socially relevant books, announced today that as part of its 2010 strategic plan, it will launch communication programs designed to bring consumer awareness to the wasteful practices of the publishing industry in order to encourage innovation and reform. The long-term program will enlist the support and cooperation of publishing influencers and leaders to utilize resources on transforming publishing into a profitable and environmentally conscious industry by embracing new technologies and reforming wasteful business practices.
The campaign will include an industry outreach to align the resources and efforts of publishing industry leaders and influencers, while at the same time conduct a consumer outreach program designed to inform the general public what innovations are needed to reform the industry. In addition to consumer outreach, the program will provide resources, information, and publications about publishing reform and will attempt to engage a grassroots consumer response.
“There are exciting new and innovative technologies available to the publishing world now and if implemented could save the industry billions of dollars every year,” said Jennifer Havenner, Director of Publishing for The Way Things Are Publications, “however there is a stigma in the industry against these innovations. We hope that bringing awareness to consumers will generate a market demand for these innovations and unite the industry under a new paradigm of responsible and profitable publishing.”
The Way Things Are Publications is currently reaching out within the industry and will have the program infrastructure in place by the first quarter, 2010. The program will be implemented in phases through the second and third quarter and will be ongoing through to the end of the year.
