Colorado Springs Native Kaufman Includes Denver As A Self-Sustaining Green City In Her New Environmental Thriller.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (APRIL 27, 2009) – The Way Things Are Publications, an independent press that focuses on raising social awareness, announced today that Colorado Springs born Kathleen Kaufman’s debut novel, The Tree Museum is now available for purchase in all major U.S. bookstores. Called an “environmental thriller” by the publisher, The Tree Museum attempts to address a plethora of issues surrounding the environmental problems facing humanity and how these problems can be resolved.
Kaufman chose Denver as a key location in The Tree Museum and dramatically transforms it into a completely self-sustaining city by a seemingly all-powerful force called only “the signmakers”. The book follows the journey of a torn couple as they make their way across a transforming western U.S. where they meet their climatic fate in the new environmentally utopian Mile-High City.
“Denver represents an urban environment that is on the verge of a green revolution”, author Kathleen Kaufman said. “A strong social and environmental conscience is prevalent in Denver as well as the surrounding areas. Denver is a growing city with limited resources and is often in the center of conservation discussions and so I thought it fitting to put it as the apex of a story about environmental transformation.”
Now a high school teacher in inner city Los Angeles, Kaufman still stays closely connected to her family and long-time friends in Denver and all throughout Colorado.
